About CRPF

The Central Reserve Police Force was created in the capacity of Crown Representative's Police on 27th July 1939. The name was changed to the Central Reserve Police Force on the promulgation of CRPF Act on 28th December 1949. It has now completed 82 years of amazing time. It has grown to become a huge force. Force has grown into an enormous organization, with the number of 246 Bns, (including 203 executive Bns and five VIP Security Bns, 6 Mahila Bns 15 RAF Bns 10 CoBRA Bns and the 05 Signal Bns Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Bns Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Group Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Group), 43 Group Centres 22 Training Institutions, 03 CWS. 07 AWS 03 MWS/SWS hospitals with 100 beds. 18 composite Hospitals with 50 beds as well as 06 field hospitals.

About Us

The Central Reserve Police Force was established in the form of Crown Representative's Police on 27th July 1939. It was changed to its own Central Reserve Police Force on the passing of the CRPF Act on 28th December 1949. It's been around for 82 glorious years of time. The Force has grown into a huge organization which includes two-and-a half billions (including the executive Bn of 208, six Mahila Bns and 15 RAF Bns 10 CoBRA Bns, as well five Signal Bns as well one Special Duty Group, 1 Parliament Duty Group), 43 Group Centres, 20 Training Institutions , 3 CWS, 7 AWS 2 SWS, 1 MWS, four composite hospitals with 100 beds and 17 composite hospitals of 50 beds.

Organizational Set-up of the Force

The headquarters of the Force Hqrs of the Central Reserve Police Force is located at Block No. 1, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The Director is the head for CGO Complex. Administration

Administration Directorate Administration Directorate is operating under the supervision of the direction by lG (Adm). He is assisted by the assistance by DIG (Adm) and DIG (Welfare).

Personnel

The Personnel Directorate is functioning under the direction of lG (Pers). The department is supported with DIG (Pers), DIG (CR and Vig), DIG (Org), DIG (Estt) and Comdt(Estt).

Training

The Training Directorate is under the direction by IG(Training). The Directorate is supported by the assistance by DIG (Training-l), DIG (Training-ll) and DIG(Sports).

Operations

The Operations Directorate is functioning under the supervision of IG (OPS). He is supported by DIG (OPS-I) and and DIG (OPS-II).

Provisioning

The Provisioning Directorate is under the direction of IG (Provisioning). The Directorate is supported by the DIG (Prov) and (Mod & ORD), DIG (Mod & ORD), DIG(MT) and Comdt. (Mod) and Asstt. Director (Prov).

Communication

IG(Communication) is accountable for the Communication Dte. IG(Communication) is in charge of The Communication Dte. He is assisted by DIG (Eqpt ), DIG (Tech) and DIG (IT) .

Intelligence

The Intelligence Directorate is functioning under the supervision by IG (Intelligence). He is assisted by DIG (MAC),Commandant(Int) and PRO.

Establishment

The Establishment branch operates under the direction by IG(Estt.). They are supported in their tasks by DIG(Law) and DIG (Rectt).

Finance

The Finance Branch and Pay is managed as a direct supervision of the FA. This Finance Branch is helped by Dy.FA.

Medical

The Medical Branch is functioning under the supervision of the IG Director (Medical). The Medical Branch is assisted with two Dy. Director (Medical).

The Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) is the largest Indian Central Armed Police Force. It is a part of the of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India. The main responsibility of the CRPF is to assist the States and Union Territories in their police activities to ensure the law and order, as well as to fight insurgency. It was established as the Crown Representative's Police on July 27, 1939. Following Indian Independence, it was renamed the Central Reserve Police Force on the adoption by the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.

In addition to law and order and counter-insurgency duties and counter-insurgency tasks and counter-insurgency duties, the CRPF has been more prominent in the Indian national elections. This is especially true for that former state Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar and in the North East, amid violent tensions. In the election to the parliament of September 1999, the CRPF was a major player for security measures. In recent times, CRPF contingents are also deployed to UN missions.
