A video of an anti-Indian commentator has been shared on social networks with the false claim that it was the founder and CEO of Himalaya Drug Company

On the messaging platform WhatsApp, a message was published that stated that Muhammad Manal, the owner of Himalaya Drug Company, posted an anti-Indian post on his Facebook page. The video features a man encouraging Muslim young people to view India as an ideal place.False information suggests that the video was posted by the founder of Himalaya Drug Company

The Himalayan Drug Company

It was in 1930 that Muhammed Manal started the Himalayan Drug Company. Their headquarters and headquarters company are in Bengaluru (Karnataka). It makes primarily health care products, with many products that are based upon Ayurvedic herbs. They're productsare popular not only in India as well, but also across other countries such as the United States, Middle East and around the world. The company currently sells its products over 106 countries. Liv 52 is the most well-known Himalayan product. It is a product that improves liver health. It first came out in the year 1955.

Social media messages

If the information is accurate, Muhammad Manal is the founderand the owner of Himalayan Drug Company. Because the company was founded in 1930 therefore, it is reasonable for this younger person in this video to be at least 100 years young. In reality, Mr. Manal passed away in 1986. Therefore, the person on the screen cannot be him.

Reply to Himalaya Drug Company

Himalaya posted a message to its social media accounts on 14 October stating that fake posts or WhatsAppforwards were being posted about Himalaya. It also stated it was a companyis expertly managed and operates with integrity. The company advised that anyone who shared or sent the fake message must take it down it immediately or they will pursue legal action.

It's not the first time the Himalaya Drug Co is dealing with this issue. Similar messages circulated via WhatsApp and social media in March of 2020. Many posts alleging it was the case that Himalaya Drug Company funds terrorists were inundating social media with photos of Philipe Haydon (President and CEO of Himalaya Drug Company). The post also mentioned the fact that M. Manal, the founder of Himalaya Drug Company was shown in the photograph.

The company has also released an explanation message at that time, saying that the majority of posts about Himalaya on social media are fake. The company further added that Himalaya Drug Company was a pre-independence wellness brand "Made In India", that adheres to the belief of "healing".

In search of that personin video

A bit of investigation on the website of the company showed an error on the site. M. Manal is not the person shown in the clip. In reality the founder died in the year 1986, around 35 years ago. We set out to discover who the person appears in the video. We found several social media accounts which were operated by Naqi Ahmed Nadwi, a Saudi Arabian citizen, after some digging using Google's reverse image search. While there was a link to his Facebook page, there was no information regarding his personal information. The default site for parking was all it had. The registration was made in May of this year.
